Anything You Can Do

Half talent-show, half competition, this is a great peulat erev you can do within the first few days of camp. Campers will get to meet the other kids in their edah and learn cool things about each other.

Educational Goal/Jewish Value

Get to know one another, and includes some Jewish/Israeli trivia

Directions

1. Divide the edah into 4 teams. Each team will have a color, and you will tell your campers what color they should wear during shower hour. 2. Set up the benches in Bet Am Gadol facing the stage and the benches should be set up distinctly in 4 sections for the 4 teams. 3. Staff should be split almost evenly to help manage the teams, make sure campers are quiet, and ensure that every camper who wants a turn gets the chance. - 2 counselors are the competition's hosts, who announce each category and help the selected campers with their challenge. How it works: there will be 10 to 15 rounds, and each round involves a challenge where the team will select the camper best fit for the challenge. Teams will have 3 minutes to select their competitor. The 4 campers chosen will go up to the stage and in front of the edah, perform their challenge. The winner gets a point for their color team. Ideas for challenge (the sillier the better!) - Who has the longest hair? - Who is the shortest? - Who can yodel the best? - Who can draw the rosh edah the most accurately in 60 seconds? - Who can name all the edahs and their English translation? - Who can jump the highest? - Who can make the coolest animal noise? - Who can hula hoop straight for 60 seconds? 4. While the 4 chosen campers are performing the challenge, the teams watching can get bonus points for being quiet and cheering on their teammate!

Materials

paper, markers, and anything else you see fit. (hula hoops, basketballs, etc.)

Helpful Tips

I've done this twice and the campers LOVE it! If your campers are young, maybe get rid of the points system so they have more fun with each other and won't be sore losers. Younger kids have a blast cheering on their teammates, and points for being quiet really work!
