Description: Chanichim will be divided into 6 teams representing different places in camp and switch
between designing a flag/banner for their team and completing an obstacle course with their team.
Duration: ~ 30 min (10 per station, 10 for transitions/presenting the flags)
Procedure:
Opening Skit
“Wow there are so many different places in camp -- but, if I had to, I’d have to say the mercaz is my favorite” “no way, the best location in camp is obviously the
chadar” etc until “i think i know the only way to settle this -- bruchim habaim l’leil
ramah olympics!!”
-
Explain in broad details what is going to happen (you are going to be divided into kvutzot representing different places in camp, you will rotate through two stations, this is an olympic
-
All tzevet members will quickly introduce themselves (name, tzrif, tafkid in camp)
Read out the teams and one by one have kids go with their designated tzevet member (3 will be going outside to do flags, 3 inside to do the obstacle course)
-
Kids will do their stations and then switch after 10ish min
-
With the remaining time, each time will QUICKLY present their flag
-
Conclude with “we love all of camp equally/everyone is a winner at machane Ramah”, ma’agal, rad hayom, Lila tov
Poster Station: explain what kinds of things should be on their flag, extra points for ivrit and anything jewish, and that eventually it will be presented to the edah
Obstacle Course: do a run-through of the obstacle course you have created and demonstrate what to do. Each group should be timed so that they know they are competing against other groups when the switch stations. If they finish early, you can have them go through the course again to try and beat their earlier score. You can also time each kid and they can do it a few times to beat their own personal high score.
