Painting and Art Critique

Have the campers paint and then have the counselors critically/humorously review the paintings.

Educational Goal/Jewish Value

Increase creativity

Recommended Location

Anywhere

Directions

Acquire materials beforehand. Pour some colors and set up materials. Instruct campers to paint for 15-20 minutes whatever they want (abstract paintings are even more fun). Once the paintings are somewhat dry, gather the campers around and begin the review of the artwork. Have the counselors give feedback that is humorous, ask kids what they see in the paintings, etc. Don't forget to clean up at the end.

Materials

Paint, paper, paintbrushes, water cups, and an area to paint on

Helpful Tips

Don't forget that the paintings need to dry, so try to discourage excessive paint use. Remember to be kind to your campers, some comments that are funny to you might not be funny to your campers!
